Why Jersey Keys

What renting here is actually like

01

Pets welcome

Genuinely — in every one of our buildings. Most Jersey landlords say no; we'd rather you and your pet felt at home. Size limits may apply at Horizon under the building's own rules.

02

Direct with the owner

No agency, no admin fees, no middle layer — the rent is what you pay. Questions and repairs go straight to the person who can act on them.

03

Kept properly

Well-maintained apartments in well-run buildings, with repairs dealt with quickly. They're kept to live in, not to flip.

04

Long-term by design

A one-year initial term that rolls monthly — and once it does, we'd need to give you a full year's notice to end it without a reason. You can leave on one month's.

The owner

You'll be dealing with Martin

Jersey Keys is owned and run personally — the nine apartments have been built up over years and are let to people who want to stay. If you rent with us, you deal with the person who owns your home, not a call centre.

The portfolio

Not everything is available at once — but this is the standard you can expect across all of them.

Renting with us

From first look to keys

01

Check the basics

Two minutes on the pre-qualifier tells you whether one of our homes will work for you — residential status, employment, parking, pets.

02

Book a viewing

Fifteen minutes, usually at weekday lunchtimes or in the evenings. If you're relocating and not yet on the island, we'll do it by video call instead.

03

Decide

No paperwork and no pressure until you've seen the place and know it's right for you.

04

Apply

Registration card, passport copy, proof of address and your most recent payslip, plus either an employer or a previous-landlord reference. No money changes hands until these are checked.

05

Sign

We use the Government of Jersey's model tenancy agreement. We'll send it over in good time — the law gives you at least a full working day to read it properly, and we'd rather you took it.

06

Deposit and first month

One month's deposit is lodged with mydeposits Jersey and the first month's rent is paid in advance. That's what secures the apartment.

07

Move in

Keys, a condition report we complete together at handover, and a run-through of the building's practical details.

This usually moves quickly. Once your references are back the paperwork is the only thing left — and allowing you your reading day, we can normally have you in within a few days.

Questions

The things people always ask

The agreement

Read it before you apply

We use the Government of Jersey's model residential tenancy agreement — the standard form published under the current law, unchanged apart from the details specific to your apartment. You can read the full model before you apply, so there are no surprises.

Before you book a viewing

A quick check, so we don't waste your time

If these all fit, we'd love to show you around.

  • You hold Entitled or Licensed residential status (registration card)
  • You're in full-time employment — we take either an employer or a previous-landlord reference, plus your most recent payslip
  • You've checked the listing for parking — only two of our homes have a space
  • Deposit is one month's rent; rent is paid monthly in advance
  • Pets are welcome (size limits apply at Horizon)

Our homes can only be let to Entitled or Licensed status holders, so unfortunately we won't be able to progress an application — thank you for understanding. The Government of Jersey's housing pages explain what Registered status means for renting, and there are several active Facebook groups for Registered accommodation on the island, which are often the quickest way to find something.
